Common Causes of Low Back Pain

Below are the most common causes of lower back pain:

SCIATICA
One of the most common causes of lower back pain is sciatica – a condition whereby the sciatic nerve, the longest nerve in the body, becomes inflamed. The pain from this condition can vary from a constant throbbing pain to an intense knife-like pain.

SCOLIOSIS
Another cause of back pain is scoliosis or curvature of the spine. Scoliosis affects approximately two percent of the population and it is more prevalent among females than males. Scoliosis places undo stress on the spine.

TREATMENT
Spinal adjustments are an important part of correcting the cause of low back pain. This drug-free/pain free therapy simply involves the chiropractor using his or her hands to detect and correct subluxations. A subluxation occurs when one or more bones in the spine becomes misaligned, thus creating pressure and irritation near and on the spinal nerves. Over time, spinal adjustments can remove the subluxation, relieving the pain by taking pressure off the nerve, increasing circulation, and improving overall function of the nervous system.
